• Name change - The Social Security Department says that if your name changes, you need to advise them! This can be done on a form SS-5. When a client lets us know of their name change, we mail them the necessary SS form. If you are an employer, the Social Security Administration asks that you do not change your payroll records until your employee furnishes you with their new social security card.
• Social Security numbers should not be on ANY mailings to you OR FROM YOUR BUSINESS unless "required for administrative purposes." This is to reduce identity theft by those who would steal from the US mail. I will still need to include your social security number on tax related items I mail to you.
