CPAs are no longer required by law (FTC regulations) to inform their clients of privacy policies since they were already heavily regulated by state law on privacy requirements.CPAs have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are even more stringent than those required by the FTC. Therefore, we have always protected your right to privacy.
Types of Non-public Personal Information We Collect
We collect non-public personal information about you that is provided to us by you or obtained by us with your authorization.
Parties to Whom We Disclose Information
For current and former clients, we do not disclose any non-public personal information obtained in the course of our practice except as required or permitted by law. Permitted by law disclosures include, for instance:
Protecting the Confidentiality and Security of Current and Former Clients' Information
We retain records relating to professional services that we provide so that we are better able to assist you with your professional needs and, in some cases, to comply with professional guidelines. In order to guard your non-public personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional standards.
Information storage includes client income tax information stored in office computers, and on paper in client income tax files; and client names, addresses, and telephone numbers in Microsoft Outlook for contacting or answering clients by phone, mail, email, and or fax
Information we mail to you that includes your social security number is limited to income tax returns and correspondence with government agencies.
